Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15 election in Osun State, has launched an electrification effort in Iwo by distributing 500 solar-powered street lights.
Representing her husband at the Wednesday ceremony, Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji explained that the project, known as Light Up Osun, intends to bolster security and stimulate economic growth in rural areas. She noted that Iwo serves as the pilot location for this endeavor, which is designed to eventually reach communities throughout the entire state. This effort highlights the candidate’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for rural residents.
Remi Omowaiye, who leads the APC campaign’s media committee, stated that this is only the first stage of a comprehensive rural electrification plan. He confirmed that the necessary infrastructure, including poles and solar units, has been secured for immediate installation. This initiative also aligns with Oyebamiji’s commitment to supporting the Electricity Act and increasing sustainable power accessibility. The project is financed entirely by Oyebamiji himself.
