Kwara State Police Launch Strict Traffic Law Enforcement

The Kwara State Police Command has initiated a crackdown on traffic law violations to improve road safety and reduce accidents across the state.

Kwara State Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi has ordered the immediate application of all state traffic laws, following mandates issued by the Inspector-General of Police. This decision stems from a rise in motorists ignoring safety protocols, which has led to unnecessary accidents and blocked roadways.

SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, the command spokesperson, noted in Ilorin that the operation is designed to bring order to the transport system and ensure public safety. Officials emphasized that this initiative is not meant to harass residents, but rather to encourage accountability on the roads.

Officers involved in the operation have been instructed to act professionally while upholding the rights of citizens. Commissioner Adekimi stressed that any police personnel caught misbehaving or breaking traffic rules themselves will face disciplinary action. All road users, including drivers and motorcycle operators, are expected to keep their documentation current and adhere strictly to speed limits and traffic signals to avoid penalties.
