Kogi State Police Commissioner Naziru Bello Kankarofi and his Edo State counterpart, Patrick Daaor, have reinforced their cross-border security partnership. On Thursday, the two officials conducted a joint patrol near Aguda Village on the Okene-Auchi Expressway to evaluate ongoing security operations.
Accompanied by Okene Local Government Chairman Enesi Ahmed Nuhu, the commissioners inspected security personnel stationed at forest hideouts and other high-risk zones along the border. Police spokesperson ASP Afusat Salihu confirmed that this collaboration aims to sharpen intelligence sharing and synchronize tactical responses.
The joint task force, which includes the Nigeria Police, military, DSS, and local vigilantes, successfully rescued nine individuals kidnapped on August 11 along the Mameramo-Adomu Road. Following their rescue, the victims were reunited with their relatives after a debriefing process.
During the patrol, the commissioners met with local residents to address security grievances. Authorities pledged to maintain a strong presence to ensure the safety of commuters and community members, vowing that criminals will find no sanctuary in the border region.
