The South-East branch of the Kwankwaso National Network (KNN) has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to shift his strategy when handling feedback from Catholic bishops. Instead of issuing verbal responses to their critiques, the group suggests that the administration should engage the clerics in meaningful discussion.
Dr. Ukpa Iro Ukpai, the Zonal Coordinator for KNN, stated that the bishops are highlighting the real-world struggles of citizens, including economic strain, joblessness, and security issues. The organization emphasized that these religious leaders are acting in the interest of the public and should be treated as concerned citizens rather than political adversaries. They urged the President to focus on resolving the specific problems mentioned in the bishops’ statements.
Furthermore, the KNN encouraged the Presidency to discourage supporters and aides from launching personal attacks against those who express dissent. According to the group, a healthy democracy depends on the ability of the government to listen to feedback and adjust its policies accordingly.
Looking toward the 2027 election, the KNN expressed support for a potential alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The group believes such a ticket could offer a necessary alternative for the nation, potentially shifting the country toward a production-focused economy. Finally, the network advised Nigerians to remain committed to the democratic process, prioritize integrity in leadership, and avoid trading their future for short-term gains during elections.
