A Federal High Court in Abuja has officially recognized Abdulghani Arobo as the legitimate All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat in Ondo State. Justice Peter Lifu issued the ruling on Wednesday following a legal challenge filed by Arobo, identified as case FHC/ABJ/CS/26, concerning the primary election conducted on May 16, 2026.
The court determined that Arobo secured the majority of valid votes in the primary, garnering 7,959 votes in Owo and 2,583 in Ose. Consequently, Justice Lifu ordered both the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to acknowledge Arobo as the rightful nominee. Any previous nominations contrary to this result were declared invalid.
Justice Lifu further directed INEC to reopen its digital portal to ensure Arobo’s name is formally uploaded as the party’s official candidate. The court strictly prohibited the defendants from interacting with or recognizing any other individual as the winner of the primary election for this constituency.
