Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has committed to providing full financial support to the family of the late Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu. The victim, an Islamic teacher, was killed by a mob in Maraban Jos, located along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway. During a condolence visit on Saturday, the governor assured the public that his administration would cover the living expenses for the victim’s husband and four children, in addition to funding their education.
The incident occurred the previous Sunday when a mob attacked and burned the woman after false allegations that she was attempting to kidnap children. Governor Sani expressed his strong condemnation of the mob violence, confirming that his office is collaborating with the Commissioner of Police and the Department of State Services to ensure justice. He noted that 82 individuals have been investigated, with 41 charged for culpable homicide and 30 others charged for unlawful assembly.
Governor Sani emphasized that every individual involved in the killing will face legal consequences regardless of their status, acting as a warning against vigilantism. He also requested that security agencies investigate the potential negligence of local personnel, specifically mentioning the Maraban Jos Divisional Police Officer, to ensure full accountability for the handling of the situation.
