The Kaduna State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is demanding the deployment of permanent security units in high-risk areas. This appeal follows a violent raid in the Narido (Kizakoro) community of Kauru Local Government Area, where over 30 individuals were murdered.
Rev. Caleb Bawa Ma’aji, the State Chairman of CAN, labeled the massacre a cruel violation of human rights and expressed the organization’s profound grief. The association highlighted that the assault indiscriminately struck men, women, children, and the elderly. This tragedy is not isolated; previous attacks in August 2025 and June 2026 claimed several other lives, leaving the community once again preparing for mass burials.
CAN argues that current security strategies are insufficient and calls for rapid response systems to be established. The group urged the government to bolster security personnel, sustain offensives against criminal strongholds, and enhance intelligence operations. Furthermore, they demanded that the perpetrators and their backers face legal consequences.
While acknowledging prior government efforts, CAN emphasized that more aggressive intervention is necessary to prevent further loss of life. They advised residents to maintain order and assist law enforcement with actionable intelligence, while encouraging community and faith leaders to foster peace and reconciliation during these difficult times.
