As celebrations for the fifth coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, approach, the Itsekiri Global Homecoming committee has selected Overland Airways as the official airline sponsor for the festivities. The week-long event, set to take place in Warri, Delta State, between August 16 and August 22, 2026, aims to bring together members of the Iwere Nation from within Nigeria and abroad.
To assist travelers, Overland Airways will offer reduced airfare for those flying from Lagos and Abuja to the Osubi Airport. Mr. Ade Mabo, a key figure in the initiative and member of the Royal Order of Iwere, noted that dependable transport is vital for the success of the milestone anniversary. He stated that the airline’s established presence in Delta State made them the ideal choice to ensure a smooth journey for attendees while fostering economic activity in the region.
Capt. Edward Boyo, CEO of Overland Airways, extended his congratulations to the monarch on his anniversary. He emphasized that the partnership reflects the airline’s long-standing dedication to safe travel and regional community development, a mission they have pursued for over two decades. The airline recently restarted its Osubi Airport flights in 2025 using its Embraer E175 fleet. The Homecoming aims to highlight Itsekiri cultural traditions, strengthen community bonds, and encourage future investment in the Warri Kingdom.
