Amit Halevi, a member of the Israeli Knesset, stated on Monday that Turkey and Iran are actively working to undermine the current government by swaying the results of the upcoming national elections. Scheduled for October 27, these polls will determine the composition of the 120-seat legislative body, currently led by Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party.
During a discussion with The Jerusalem Post, Halevi warned that international entities are engaging in complex efforts to interfere with Israel’s internal affairs. Even though the election system relies on physical paper ballots, he argued that outside forces retain the ability to impact voter sentiment and outcomes.
Halevi described how adversaries are utilizing digital platforms and financial resources to sway the public. He highlighted specific apprehensions regarding monetary support provided by foreign nations and the European Union to various non-governmental organizations operating within Israel. He identified Iran and Turkey as primary actors seeking to dictate regional political agendas, asserting that both nations harbor hostile intentions toward Israel and have developed strategies to exert influence over its democratic processes.
