Idoma Diaspora in the UK Demands Justice for Benue Attacks

The Idoma Community UK has demanded that the Benue State Government identify and prosecute the perpetrators behind recent deadly attacks in Otukpo and Ohimini.

The Idoma Community United Kingdom (ICUK) has petitioned the Benue State Government to collaborate with law enforcement to locate and prosecute the individuals behind the recent fatal assaults in the Otukpo and Ohimini local government areas. This demand emerged from an emergency session held by the organization this past Sunday following the violence that resulted in numerous fatalities and widespread displacement.

Led by Chief Dr. Williams Obande, the group issued a formal statement denouncing the violence against Idoma residents. They urged local authorities to prioritize identifying the culprits and ensuring they face the full weight of the law. Beyond immediate justice, the group requested a significant enhancement of regional security infrastructure to better defend residents in at-risk areas.

Furthermore, the ICUK emphasized the need for urgent humanitarian aid for those who have lost their homes. They also advocated for preventive security strategies to stop further bloodshed. The organization offered its sympathy to grieving families and those nursing injuries, promising to provide financial aid for medical care and funeral arrangements where possible. The group concluded by pledging its ongoing solidarity with the impacted regions while calling for a swift restoration of peace across Idomaland.
