Agents from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have taken a former motorcycle taxi driver into custody. The individual was caught after passing 100 wraps of methamphetamine that he had swallowed during a trip from Uganda.
Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s media director, announced the arrest on X this past Sunday. The official statement noted that the man had spent 15 years working as an Okada rider in Lagos. Hoping to boost his income, he allegedly became involved with an international drug smuggling ring.
Babafemi explained that the suspect’s attempt to elevate his financial standing resulted in his detention at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. After returning from Uganda, the man was apprehended by officials as he excreted the illegal cargo. Authorities have not released the name of the suspect or additional specifics about the investigation.
