The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially stated that Kemi Nandap, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, is not the subject of any visa racketeering investigation. This announcement serves as a direct rebuttal to recent media claims suggesting she was involved in the ongoing fraud probe.
Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the agency, clarified that while the EFCC is actively investigating visa fraud within the immigration department, these efforts are not directed at Nandap. He emphasized that the agency currently has no pending case against the Comptroller-General.
Criminal proceedings are currently active at the Federal High Court concerning several other immigration officials accused of visa-related fraud. The EFCC noted that their broader investigation is ongoing, and it is possible that additional officers will face charges in the future.
