Sokoto lawmaker expresses grief over nine Yabo youths killed in road crash

Sokoto lawmaker Abubakar Shehu Shamaki Yabo has mourned nine youths from his constituency who perished in a road accident while traveling to Lagos for work.

Hon. Abubakar Shehu Shamaki Yabo, the state assembly representative for Yabo constituency in Sokoto, has shared his profound sadness following the death of nine individuals from his area. The young men were killed during a road journey to Lagos, where they had hoped to find improved economic prospects.

In a statement released this past Saturday, the lawmaker labeled the event a major tragedy for both the families involved and the entire Yabo community. He emphasized that the victims were merely seeking honest work when their lives were tragically interrupted.

Shamaki remarked that the loss is felt deeply across the entire state, as the deceased were driven by aspirations to improve their futures. He noted that their passing is especially painful because they were hard-working members of society. Furthermore, he highlighted that this event underscores the broader difficulties Nigerian youth encounter when migrating to find employment.
