Delta State police have arrested two suspects and seized illegal weapons and narcotics following a highway patrol operation, while a third individual remains at large.

Members of the Safer Highway Patrol captured two individuals on July 25, 2026, during a routine vehicle check on the Agbarho-Warri road in Delta State. The suspects, 46-year-old Omini Ezeri and 42-year-old Chinedum Wagbara, were traveling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV when they were intercepted. A third person in the vehicle, identified as Godknows Ifreke, managed to escape into a nearby swamp.

Police searched the vehicle and discovered two locally made Beretta pistols, nine live rounds of ammunition, and roughly 200 grams of suspected cocaine. Additional items seized included a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder, and two high-end mobile phones. SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police, confirmed the arrests and stated that authorities are actively searching for the third suspect.

Delta State Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi praised the officers for their efficient performance. He reiterated that the force will maintain a strict stance against illegal weapon possession and drug trafficking. Furthermore, the command is encouraging local residents to provide useful intelligence to help keep the region secure.
