A commercial motorcycle operator lost his life in Agbor, the administrative center of Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State, after being overwhelmed by floodwaters. The tragedy took place on Wednesday evening in the vicinity of Imudia Street, following a severe downpour that persisted from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Witnesses indicated that the man had sought refuge in a nearby structure while leaving his motorcycle positioned close to a concrete drainage canal. When the rising water pulled the vehicle into the drainage system, the rider attempted to recover it. Unfortunately, the powerful currents dragged him into the water as well. Local residents successfully located his body afterward, confirming his passing.
The intense precipitation resulted in significant flooding across the neighborhood, as drainage systems reached capacity and strong currents inundated multiple streets throughout the area.
