On Saturday, representatives from Hezbollah and Hamas arrived in Tehran to pay tribute to the deceased Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. During the event, these officials held discussions with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, as reported by local state media outlets. Iran has long maintained ties with regional militant organizations, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, despite facing global sanctions for its support.
A delegation from Hezbollah, led by former government minister Mohammed Fneish, attended the services alongside families of their fallen members. Similarly, Hamas sent a delegation headed by political bureau chief Mohammed Darwish, accompanied by senior members such as Bassem Naim. These ceremonies follow the February 28 death of the 86-year-old leader, who perished alongside family and top officials during a joint US-Israeli operation.
Thousands congregated at the Grand Mosalla in Tehran to honor Khamenei, who held ultimate authority over Iranian state policy for over thirty years. The government has declared Sunday a national holiday to facilitate further public attendance, while the Foreign Ministry has called on citizens to demonstrate national solidarity during the ongoing commemorations.
