Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, acknowledged that her department failed to conduct proper vetting regarding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). During an appearance before a House of Representatives investigative committee, she took full accountability for the administrative error.
Walson-Jack explained that her office trusted documents that seemed legitimate due to the presence of an official State House seal and an apparently familiar signature. At the time, officials found no cause to challenge the paperwork. However, later police forensic analysis and direct comparisons with authentic State House documents proved the signatures were forged.
Promising to address the failure, Walson-Jack stated that her department is now reassessing its internal verification protocols. She intends to implement stricter measures to ensure that future documentation undergoes rigorous authentication to prevent similar fraudulent activities.
