Bauchi State Police have arrested two men, Idi Riga and Murtala Sani, for acting as informants during a violent kidnapping attack in Alkaleri LGA.

The Bauchi State Police Command has taken two individuals into custody for their suspected involvement as informants in a kidnapping incident in Alkaleri Local Government Area. The detainees, 18-year-old Idi Riga from Gwanar Dutse Village and 22-year-old Murtala Sani from Gobirawo Ward, were apprehended on August 2, 2026.

This police action follows an armed assault that occurred on July 31 at the home of a 46-year-old resident in Gwanar Dutse. During the intrusion, the victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right thigh while trying to flee. He was transported to the General Hospital in Kashere for medical care.

Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib explained that officers from the Gobirawo Out-Station conducted an intelligence-driven operation that led to the arrests. During initial questioning, both men admitted to providing information to the attackers. The case has now been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi to prepare for potential prosecution.

CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police, expressed his commitment to ending violent crime in the state. He encouraged members of the public to maintain vigilance and keep reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement.
