Florida Man Opens Fire Outside Bar After Heated Argument Over Chicken Eggs

A bizarre argument over how many eggs a chicken can lay spiraled into gunfire outside a Florida bar, leading to the arrest of 44-year-old Peter Riera.

Riera called 911 on November 4, claiming he’d been robbed and chased by two men and a woman outside Harper’s Pub in Port Saint Lucie. But when officers arrived, the trio Brandon Pace, 23; his girlfriend, Kayla Damiana, 26; and Tyler McHargue, 23 told a very different story.

They said they’d met Riera earlier in the night and had been chatting casually about chickens and egg production when he suddenly became paranoid, insisting they were planning to attack him. Witness statements say he accused them of trying to “con” him before pulling out a gun.

As the group fled, Riera allegedly fired four shots in their direction, though no one was hit. Bodycam footage later showed him being arrested outside the bar, barefoot and wearing jean overalls.

The chaos didn’t end there. Pace was arrested for allegedly obstructing officers and kicking two of them while being detained, while Damiana was taken into custody for resisting without violence after she ignored police instructions. She has since been released on a $500 bond, and Pace still faces charges including battery on law enforcement. McHargue, who cooperated fully, was not charged.

Riera remains behind bars on a $435,000 bond. He faces several counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as charges for firing a gun in public.
