Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has forecasted that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential flagbearer for the African Democratic Congress, will face defeat in the 2027 general elections. During a discussion on Symfoni TV, Lawal expressed his expectation for an Atiku loss, stating that his desire for such an outcome is widely shared.
Lawal indicated that a potential partnership between Peter Obi and Rabi’u Kwankwaso holds a 70 percent probability of success. He commended Obi for his commitment to ethical standards. Meanwhile, he assigned a 50 percent chance to the current leader, President Bola Tinubu.
The former SGF has previously maintained a strained relationship with Atiku, having resigned from the party following accusations that the primary election which secured Atiku’s candidacy was subject to widespread manipulation.
