August 31 Set for Verdict in Shinkafi’s Challenge Against APC and INEC

A Federal High Court in Gusau has set August 31, 2026, as the date for the judgment in the lawsuit challenging the APC’s Zamfara North Senatorial primary.

A Federal High Court in Gusau, Zamfara State, has scheduled August 31, 2026, to deliver its ruling regarding a lawsuit brought by Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi. The legal action contests the legitimacy of the Zamfara North Senatorial primary held by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Justice Hassan Dikko announced the date on Friday following the completion of final written arguments by all involved parties. Shinkafi, who sought the party’s nomination, initiated the legal challenge against the APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Senator Sahabi Ya’u, citing claims of procedural flaws during the primary election.

Bello Galadi, legal representative for the plaintiff, confirmed that all defendants and his client finalized their written submissions. The judge, who appeared remotely for the session, adjourned the case after these filings were accepted. Galadi stated he expects a fair outcome rooted in the facts presented to the court.
