Armed assailants kidnap principal and students at Kogi school during NECO exam

Gunmen raided a Kogi State secondary school on Tuesday, abducting the principal, four students, and a NECO official during an ongoing examination.

On Tuesday, an armed group raided Government Secondary School, Olowa, located in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. The incident took place around 5:25 pm while students were sitting for their National Examinations Council (NECO) papers. During the attack, the perpetrators kidnapped the school principal, four students, and an ad hoc NECO worker before escaping to an undisclosed location.

This security breach was reported by Zagazola Makama, a specialist in counter-insurgency. Following the abduction, a joint security task force mobilized to track the kidnappers and perform search-and-rescue operations. Security sources have since confirmed that one student has been successfully recovered. Authorities are currently conducting surveillance and bush-combing missions throughout the region to locate the remaining hostages and apprehend the attackers. Official investigations are underway to stabilize the area and ensure the safe return of the other victims.
