The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee has launched a formal reconciliation effort to address the internal leadership instability currently affecting its Anambra State branch. An emergency meeting was held in Abuja, led by Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye, the National Deputy Chairman (South), who heads the party’s investigative and reconciliation panel.
Dr. Nwoye emphasized that the party’s strength relies on unity, warning that internal factions directly threaten the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections. The committee is tasked with diagnosing the roots of the crisis, which include the unauthorized removal of elected officials, the tampering with candidate lists, and the tendency of members to pursue litigation instead of internal grievance procedures.
During the meeting, party leadership identified deeper systemic issues, such as poor communication, weak disciplinary enforcement, and power struggles. Dr. Nwoye urged stakeholders to move beyond defensive posturing to find genuine solutions, noting that time spent on infighting is time lost on voter outreach and promoting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
While advocating for peace and forgiveness, the leadership warned that they would not tolerate continued sabotage. Dr. Nwoye clarified that the committee seeks win-win outcomes but remains prepared to enforce discipline against those who persist in undermining the party’s interests.
Other party figures, including National Leader for Persons with Disabilities Tolu Bankole and National Woman Leader Mary Alile Idele, reinforced these calls for unity. They cautioned that if the Anambra branch fails to resolve these deep-seated grievances immediately, the party risks losing its political relevance and future electoral viability in the region.
