Football figure Mark Hughes is mourning the sudden death of his 38-year-old son, Alex, a recruitment professional who worked for various clubs throughout his career.

Mark Hughes, the former Carlisle United manager and Welsh football icon, announced the devastating death of his 38-year-old son, Alex. Through a statement issued by the League Managers Association, the 62-year-old expressed profound grief over the sudden passing.

Alex Hughes began his own career as a player for Wrexham and Stockport County. He later transitioned into recruitment and analysis roles, serving clubs where his father was manager, including Manchester City, Blackburn, and Fulham. After running a private academy in Portugal, he worked as an agent and later held recruitment positions at AFC Fylde, Morecambe, and Grimsby Town.

In his tribute, Mark Hughes described his son as a cherished father to Sebastian and Leonardo, a devoted husband to Jessica, and a beloved brother to Curtis and Xenna. He emphasized that Alex will be missed dearly by his wide circle of friends and professional colleagues.
