Aide to Governor Sule Reports Assault on Senator Gyunka During By-Election

A media aide to Governor Abdullahi Sule claims that APC leader Senator Philip Aruwa Gyunka was attacked by armed thugs while traveling to a recent by-election.

Senator Philip Aruwa Gyunka, a leading figure within the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State, was allegedly targeted by political thugs during the Nasarawa North senatorial by-election. Ango Ngharni, a media representative for Governor Abdullahi Sule, confirmed the incident in a statement released this past Tuesday.

The event reportedly took place on Saturday, June 20, as the former senator was traveling to his home in Gbuje to cast his vote. Ngharni stated that individuals wielding axes and machetes stopped the convoy and attempted to harm the politician. While Gyunka managed to leave the area without physical injury, his vehicle sustained noticeable damage.

Ngharni publicly denounced the violence and requested that authorities conduct an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators. At this time, local security forces have not provided a formal update, and the identity of the attackers remains undisclosed.
