Prince Adeyemi Matthew Adeniyi, the man claiming to be the Director-General of the unrecognized Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, has disclosed how his non-existent agency managed to find its way into the federal budget. Despite being arrested before the legislative process concluded, the agency appeared in the official documents.
During an interview with online personality Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, Adeniyi denied that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, played any role in the 1.3 billion naira allocation. Instead, he claimed he personally lobbied officials at the Budget Office. He stated that although he attempted to include the council in the 2025 Appropriation Bill in December 2024, he was told the window had closed, and officials suggested waiting for the 2026 cycle.
Adeniyi alleged that a female official assisted him in accessing the Budget Office leadership, where he was eventually directed to another official who insisted on potential kickbacks. However, he maintained that he offered no actual cash, only promises of future employment opportunities for the officials’ associates. He claims his involvement ceased entirely once his legal issues began following his arrest.
Regarding allegations of a 400 million naira payment to secure his appointment, Adeniyi claimed the funds were in dollars and managed by his late associate, Dolapo Tanimola. He explicitly stated that he never met Femi Gbajabiamila in person and that Tanimola handled all intermediary tasks during the alleged transaction.
