The Adamawa State Government has announced plans to tear down the well-known Doctors Quarters. These residences were originally constructed in 1975 to support staff at the Specialist Hospital in Yola.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri ordered the demolition on Monday after inspecting the property. He labeled the existing buildings as decayed and unfit for medical staff to reside in.
In their place, the state plans to build a modern housing estate featuring 48 units. These new facilities are intended to house house officers, doctors, and various healthcare employees working at the hospital.
Situated on Hospital Road in Jimeta, the Specialist Hospital is undergoing an upgrade to become the official teaching hospital for Adamawa State University. Governor Fintiri confirmed that work on the new residential units will start shortly, with a goal to finish the project before his tenure concludes in May 2027.
