Professor Christopher Imumolen, the factional presidential candidate and National Chairman of the Accord Party, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu is set to secure victory in the 2027 presidential polls. During a press conference in Lagos, Imumolen formally withdrew his own candidacy to throw his full support behind the President’s second term.
Imumolen emphasized that his choice stems from extensive discussions with his party’s hierarchy. He argued that the national interest must outweigh individual aspirations, noting that citizens are starting to recognize the value of the administration’s reform efforts despite current economic difficulties. He warned that changing leadership in 2027 would halt progress, necessitating a restart of national development initiatives.
The Accord Party leader outlined ten primary reasons for this endorsement, highlighting Tinubu’s courage in implementing tough economic measures and his commitment to continuity. Furthermore, Imumolen praised the President for including younger Nigerians in his administration and fostering a environment where youth can engage in governance. He dismissed suggestions that this endorsement was a sign of structural weakness, asserting that the party acted solely on the basis of national progress and the potential for long-term policy stability.
