A tragic collision on Monday evening in the Olorunsogo area of Abeokuta South, Ogun State, resulted in the deaths of two men. The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. and involved a black Lexus vehicle, license plate KJA 398 JR, and a black TVS motorcycle registered as AYT 837 QU.
According to eyewitness accounts, the Lexus was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the motorcycle. The rider succumbed to a critical head injury at the scene. Afolabi Odunsi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed that six men were involved in the accident, with two fatalities reported.
Odunsi identified speed violation as the primary factor behind the crash. Rescue teams reached the site by 5:55 p.m. following a call five minutes earlier. While four individuals remained unharmed, the two deceased victims were transported to the State Hospital in Ijaye by FRSC personnel. Authorities recovered personal effects at the scene, including a Tecno phone and an ID card.
Sector Commander CC Oludare Ogunjobi expressed condolences to the bereaved families. He urged all road users to adhere to speed regulations and stay alert to prevent such fatalities. The FRSC remains focused on improving road safety through enforcement and public awareness, while encouraging citizens to notify the corps immediately during emergencies via their toll-free line.
