Trent Alexander-Arnold Reportedly Agrees To Leave Liverpool For Real Madrid
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool’s 26-year-old right-back, has reportedly agreed to join Real Madrid this summer upon the expiry of his contract.
According to talkSPORT, he will sign a five-year deal worth over £220,000 per week, marking the end of his 20-year association with Liverpool.
Discussions between Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid have been ongoing since January, with Liverpool kept informed throughout the process. The move aligns with Real Madrid’s recent strategy of acquiring top talent on free transfers, similar to their signings of David Alaba, Antonio Rüdiger, and Kylian Mbappé.
At Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold is expected to fill the void left by Dani Carvajal’s injury and reunite with England teammate Jude Bellingham. His departure poses a significant challenge for Liverpool, especially with key players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah also approaching the end of their contracts.
Former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock has defended Alexander-Arnold’s decision, criticizing fans who question his loyalty. Warnock emphasized that Alexander-Arnold has the right to seek new challenges and deserves a respectful send-off from supporters.
During his tenure at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold made 349 appearances, scored 22 goals, and provided 87 assists, contributing to eight major trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League.
