Troops Recover 49 Kidnapped Victims in Plateau, Kaduna

Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) has announced that its troops rescued 49 kidnapped victims in Plateau and Kaduna States between January 24 and March 12, 2025.

Additionally, the operation recovered approximately N2 million in ransom money paid to kidnappers during the same period.

This was disclosed in a statement by OPSH’s Media Information Officer, Major Samson Zhakom, in Jos.

According to him, security forces also recovered a total of seven AK-47 rifles, six fabricated rifles, three fabricated pistols, and 222 rounds of various types of ammunition from criminals.

“Additionally, 49 kidnapped victims were rescued, while 17 criminals, including kidnappers and bandits, were neutralized. Security forces also arrested 17 suspects involved in crimes such as gunrunning, kidnapping, banditry, and militia activities.

During the same period, 151 cows, 64 sheep, and 3 rams were recovered from cattle rustlers.

The troops also seized mobile phones and motorcycles from the criminals.”

“The troops vowed to rid the entire Joint Operations Area of non-state actors and crisis merchants destabilizing the peace of law abiding citizens.”
