Adewole Adebayo, the presidential flagbearer for the Social Democratic Party, has voiced strong disapproval regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s management style and his process for selecting cabinet officials. Speaking at the Middle Belt Forum on Thursday, Adebayo compared the President’s situation to an inexperienced pilot suddenly placed in a cockpit filled with complex controls.
Adebayo suggested that the President likely feels swamped by the complexities of running Nigeria. He argued that when leaders do not fully grasp the weight of their office, they often respond by making erratic decisions or delegating their responsibilities entirely to others. He emphasized that genuine leadership demands a comprehensive awareness of the nation and the specific hurdles it faces.
Furthermore, Adebayo challenged the current administration’s strategy for ministerial appointments. He expressed frustration over the lopsided distribution of key offices, specifically citing instances where multiple high-ranking ministers originate from the same local government area. He characterized this pattern of selection as irresponsible, contending that such concentration of power ignores the need for balanced representation.
