African Democratic Congress member Kenneth Okonkwo has publicly refuted rumors that he requested rent money from Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. Okonkwo addressed these claims, which were initiated by Peoples Democratic Party affiliate Katch Ononuju, during an appearance on Symfoni TV.
The actor and politician clarified that he secured his own housing long before he became involved in the political sphere. He stated that his goal was always to maintain personal independence and autonomy. According to Okonkwo, his commitment remains focused on Nigeria, its citizens, and constitutional values rather than political figures or parties.
Reflecting on his personal history, he noted that he has never sought rent assistance from anyone. He explained that after living in his father’s residence and completing his studies, he moved into his own duplex in Lagos by 1994, where he resided for over a decade.
