Niniola Makes Musical Return with O Du Mi Following Spouse’s Passing

Singer Niniola Apata is set to release a new single, O Du Mi, on August 14, marking her first major project following the death of her husband and manager, Michael Ndika.

Afro-house artist Niniola Apata is preparing to launch her latest track, O Du Mi, arriving just months after the loss of her husband, Michael Ndika. The song is slated for an August 14 release, marking her primary creative undertaking since Ndika died in May 2026.

Ndika was the head of NaijaReview and managed his wife of 13 years throughout her career. Following his death, Niniola expressed her sorrow on social media, identifying him as her best friend, primary support, and professional partner. The singer noted that the new single serves as an intimate reflection of her recent journey through love, bereavement, and recovery. She remarked that some emotions are best conveyed through music when words fail.

While the grieving process remains difficult, Niniola has begun stepping back into the public eye, including attending the recent album launch for her sister, Teniola Apata. Discussing her return to the stage, she stated that while the process is taxing, she feels compelled to honor her late husband’s belief in her talent by continuing to perform. This upcoming release signifies a fresh chapter for the artist, who continues to refine her signature Afro-house style. Niniola, celebrated for hits like Maradona and Designer, remains a prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene for her fusion of traditional and modern rhythms.
