Memphis Depay Claims Contract Breach by Corinthians

Memphis Depay has accused Corinthians of unacceptable behavior after the club revoked a previously agreed-upon contract extension, citing financial constraints.

Memphis Depay has publicly criticized Corinthians, labeling the club’s conduct as unacceptable after they backed out of a contract renewal. The Dutch forward, who moved to the Brazilian side from Atletico Madrid in 2024, asserts that leadership had previously committed to an extension across all major departments. He plans to address the situation in more detail soon to protect his professional interests.

During his tenure, the 32-year-old recorded 20 goals in 79 games, contributing to Copa do Brasil and Supercopa do Brasil titles. However, the Sao Paulo club cited financial sustainability as the primary reason for ending his tenure, noting that the scale of the contract was no longer viable. President Osmar Stabile is expected to hold a press conference to provide further clarity on the board’s decision.
