Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, maintains that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola left approximately N15 billion for his successor. He categorized recent statements from Governor Ademola Adeleke regarding an empty treasury as inaccurate.
During an Arise TV town hall meeting, Oyebamiji challenged the prevailing narrative surrounding inherited state liabilities. He urged the public to disregard suggestions that the current administration began with no funds. He asserted that the Adeleke government has actually accessed more financial resources than any predecessor in state history.
Oyebamiji highlighted that during the 12-year tenure of governors Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola, the state received N450 billion. In contrast, he noted that the Adeleke administration has secured N650 billion in roughly three and a half years. He questioned the lack of visible development relative to the increased federal allocations, which he credited to economic reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu.
The candidate praised President Tinubu for removing the fuel subsidy, noting that while the policy transition was difficult, it significantly increased revenue for state governments. Oyebamiji argued that these funds should have produced better infrastructure and public services rather than the current inequitable distribution across local councils.
If elected, Oyebamiji promised to implement transparent financial management. He committed to prioritizing economic growth, support for local businesses, and fair development across all Osun communities to ensure public funds directly improve the lives of citizens.
