Senator Francis Fadahunsi of the Osun East Senatorial District has addressed the backlash surrounding his recent “Kill Accord” statement. The legislator explained that his words were intended as a political metaphor, encouraging supporters of the All Progressives Congress to defeat the Accord Party at the polls.
The controversy emerged after a video surfaced online showing Fadahunsi addressing a crowd in Ilesa ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election. In the clip, he spoke in Yoruba, reportedly urging his audience to confront members of the Accord Party after accusing them of harassing APC supporters.
His media office released a formal statement on Tuesday titled “Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence, Senator Fadahunsi Tells APC” to clear up the confusion. The office emphasized that the Senator was strictly promoting a peaceful, democratic rejection of the opposition during the upcoming election.
According to the statement, the Senator has never encouraged physical harm or intimidation. Instead, he maintains that electoral outcomes should rely on public participation rather than force. Fadahunsi also called for security agencies to protect the rights of voters and urged all political participants to act responsibly throughout the election cycle.
