Kano Fire Service Responds to Blaze at Access Bank and Residential Property

Kano State fire crews successfully suppressed two separate fires involving an Access Bank branch in Dawakin Tofa and a private residence in Kumbotso.

Two distinct fire incidents recently took place in the Dawakin Tofa and Kumbotso regions of Kano State, impacting an Access Bank branch and a private home. The Kano State Fire Service reported these events on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, through their spokesperson, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.

The initial call arrived at 1:17 pm on Monday regarding the Access Bank location in Dawanau, Dawakin Tofa. Personnel from the Dawanau station arrived at the one-storey facility to find a Mikano generator ablaze and an electrical transformer partially damaged. Teams managed to stop the fire from consuming the entire building. Officials are currently looking into the cause of this emergency.

Later that day, at approximately 6:19 pm, a second distress signal was received concerning a residential property in Sabuwar Gandu, Sheka Gari, located in the Kumbotso Local Government Area. Upon arrival, crews from the Sharada Industrial Area station worked to extinguish a fire that had damaged a parlour, a kitchen, and two bedrooms. The origin of this fire also remains under investigation.

Alhaji Sani Anas, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, has called for increased public caution. He encouraged citizens to prioritize safety by installing fire extinguishers and staying alert to prevent future accidents.
