Alhaji Mujahid Abubakr Dokubo-Asari, the Amanyanabo of The Source, has officially declared his support for Hon. Engr. Elvis Donkemezuo’s bid to represent the Yenagoa–Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency in 2027. During an Abuja event on Monday, the monarch emphasized that Donkemezuo possesses a deep understanding of the Niger Delta’s struggles.
Dokubo-Asari noted that Donkemezuo’s long-standing dedication to the Ijaw cause makes him a qualified candidate. The monarch argued that the upcoming election should focus on electing leaders who truly grasp the history and aspirations of the Ijaw people, rather than prioritizing party affiliations alone. He expressed full confidence in the candidate’s ability to serve effectively.
Donkemezuo holds an extensive history of advocacy, having served as the pioneer coordinator of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Abuja Chapter and its president in 2013. His background includes involvement in the Presidential Amnesty Programme and environmental justice advocacy. He also authored The Vain Ijaw Struggle, which highlights the socio-economic challenges facing his region.
Chief Ebikabowei Victor-Ben, also known as Boyloaf, joined other prominent figures in pledging support for Donkemezuo during the gathering. The meeting, which began as a traditional visit, served as a platform to highlight the significance of the 2027 contest for the constituency.
