The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has pledged to maintain its dedication to creating a transparent, effective, and internationally recognized maritime framework by implementing consistent reforms and fostering deeper cooperation with industry stakeholders.
Dr. Dayo Mobereola, the Director-General of NIMASA, provided this confirmation during a meeting with the Alumni Association of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (AMANO) at the agency’s Lagos office. Mobereola stated that NIMASA intends to improve regulatory enforcement, encourage technological advancement, and generate additional career prospects for domestic seafarers, adhering to the mandates of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
He emphasized that the organization’s objective is to establish a maritime regulatory body that operates with transparency and holds a strong competitive standing on the world stage. Recognizing the maritime industry as a primary engine for national economic expansion, he labeled organizations like AMANO as essential collaborators in drafting policies that will fully realize the sector’s capabilities.
During the visit, AMANO President Emmanuel Maiguwa praised NIMASA for the launch of its digital portal for Seafarers’ Certificates. He highlighted this initiative as a significant achievement in boosting operational transparency, accessibility, and overall productivity.
