Los Angeles Hit by 3.9-Magnitude Earthquake Following Oscars 2025

An earthquake rattled Los Angeles hours after the 2025 Academy Awards ceremony concluded in Hollywood. More than 9,000 people reported feeling the quake on Sunday using the USGS’s “Did you feel it?” tool. Attendees at an exclusive afterparty at the Governors Ball at the Ovation Hollywood Complex allegedly felt the shaking from the quake, a source told The Hollywood Reporter. Sunday night’s earthquake follows a series of quakes that have rattled California in 2025. Two earthquakes, measuring 3.7 and 3.5 magnitudes, respectively, struck the Malibu area last month, according to reports. Additionally, two quakes of 3.4 and 3.2 magnitudes occurred around noon on February 14 near the city of Hayward, just south of San Francisco, as reported by the US Geological Survey.
