A Mars Bar dating back to 1991 was recently uncovered during a property clearance in Scunthorpe, sparking online discussions about shrinkflation. Victoria Gordon, the owner of the cleaning firm Pocket Rockets, discovered the vintage treat while working at a hoarder’s home.
Measuring 62.5g, the 35-year-old candy bar is notably larger than its modern counterpart, which weighs only 40g. Gordon noted that the item’s size immediately caught her attention because it stretched nearly the entire length of her hand. The image she shared online has since received significant attention, with many viewers pointing to the discrepancy as evidence of how portion sizes have dwindled over the years.
Although Gordon is unsure of the item’s future, she jokingly suggested she might keep it or even take the relic on a tour. She admitted surprise at the viral response, noting that she nearly discarded the chocolate before realizing its potential interest to others.
