Imo Strikers Queens Football Club has officially requested that Osun Babes Football Club settle a ₦15 million debt stemming from a previous agreement to swap league slots. This demand was formalized in a petition submitted on August 7, 2026, which was sent to the management of Osun Babes and various government and football stakeholders in Osun State.
The petition, which reached the Osun State Governor and the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, argues that the debt is substantiated by a document from December 22, 2025. This document, purportedly signed by Osun Babes Team Manager Akinbade O. Tope, reportedly admitted that the club could not cover the balance at that time and promised payment before the second round of the 2025/2026 Premier League season. Imo Strikers Queens claims this payment remains unpaid, causing significant financial strain on their operations.
Imo Strikers Queens has requested that authorities including the Nigeria Women’s Football League and the Nigeria Football Federation step in to help resolve the situation. The club has issued a 14-day ultimatum for the full payment or a formal settlement agreement, noting that failure to comply could result in legal action or formal complaints to football governing bodies. At the time of reporting, Osun State Sports Council General Manager Ademola Daini had not responded to requests for comment regarding the dispute.
