Members of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad conducted a late-night operation along the Lekki-Ajah Expressway, resulting in the apprehension of more than 30 suspected offenders. This initiative took place on Sunday to address reports of individuals disrupting public order and threatening the safety of commuters.
Tokunbo Wahab, the State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, confirmed the arrests via social media. He explained that these suspects were accused of intimidating drivers and forcefully soliciting money, with some reports indicating they caused damage to vehicles when payments were refused.
The crackdown serves as part of a broader strategy to enhance security on major thoroughfares. Commissioner Wahab noted that the RRS intends to maintain a consistent presence through intelligence-driven enforcement to protect the public and ensure the smooth flow of traffic throughout Lagos.
