With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has advised first-term governors within the zone to intensify their efforts to secure re-election. The forum, led by Chairman Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, emphasized that the governors’ ability to retain their seats depends heavily on their track record of governance.
The call was issued following a quarterly consultative meeting in Abuja. The first-term governors currently seeking a second tenure include Ahmed Ododo of Kogi, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Mohammad Bago of Niger, and Caleb Muftwang of Plateau. Meanwhile, governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara and Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa are nearing the conclusion of their second terms.
The organization aims to keep the entire North-Central region under APC control, urging leaders to focus on critical sectors such as security, agriculture, education, and the economy. While the group encouraged all governors to improve, they specifically lauded Governor Bago of Niger and Governor Muftwang of Plateau for their progress in infrastructure and worker welfare.
Specifically, the Forum praised the Niger State administration for projects like extensive road networks and a solar farm, and recognized the Plateau State government for the Mangu Bypass and various tourism initiatives. With these developments, the Forum remains optimistic about delivering six million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 election, a commitment first pledged in late 2024.
