Maduabuchi Idam, an activist lawyer, claims that citizens should not anticipate a transparent and unbiased governorship contest in Osun State this coming Saturday. He compared the hope for a fair electoral process to the unrealistic expectation of parity between the Naira and the US dollar.
In a formal statement titled The ruse to grab and run with the Osun mandate is alarming, Idam argued that the current administration under President Bola Tinubu fails to project the necessary impartiality for such an event. He specifically cited the President’s personal political stakes in the region as a point of concern.
The lawyer also noted the absence of Governor Nwifuru at the All Progressives Congress campaign launch in Osun, suggesting that he watches closely to see how the governor aligns himself. Ultimately, Idam emphasized that the electorate deserves to select their leader without fear of state-sponsored manipulation or interference, expressing hope that the incumbent candidate, often referred to as Imole, receives a fair chance to have his mandate renewed by the voters.
