Christopher Imumolen, the factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, stated on Friday that President Bola Tinubu remains the only candidate with the necessary leadership skills for the 2027 presidential election. During a press event in Lagos, Imumolen announced his withdrawal from the race, choosing instead to support the President.
Imumolen argued that Tinubu has displayed the fortitude to manage Nigeria’s intricate economic and political landscape. He specifically pointed to the removal of the fuel subsidy as a bold move that past leaders failed to execute. He noted that while he previously campaigned against Tinubu, his observations of the President’s leadership style and recent progress led him to change his stance.
Highlighting the inclusion of young people in public office, Imumolen suggested that Tinubu serves as a vital bridge between Nigeria’s democratic founders and a new generation of leaders. He urged citizens to be patient with current economic reforms, noting that the President is transparent about existing challenges. Furthermore, he warned the public against political opponents making simplistic promises about solving complex issues like insecurity.
Imumolen emphasized that his decision to exit the race was driven by national interest. He plans to visit media outlets soon to promote the administration’s achievements and encourage support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, stressing the importance of policy continuity and reform for national prosperity.
