Lekki Raid: EFCC Apprehends Over 20 Individuals in Lagos

EFCC agents have taken more than 20 suspects into custody following a strategic raid on a Lekki apartment complex to investigate alleged financial crimes.

Agents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have detained over 20 people during a targeted operation at a short-stay apartment block in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. This action is part of the agency’s broader initiative to track and reduce financial misconduct.

An unnamed senior official verified the raid, noting that the investigation remains active. The operation occurred early Monday, July 27, at Mariton Apartments, located at Plot 30, QMB Road, Ikate. Acting on reliable intelligence, officers conducted searches throughout the facility, interrogated tenants, and gathered evidence before taking the group into custody.

Authorities are currently screening the detainees and reviewing the items seized during the search. While the EFCC has not officially specified the nature of the alleged crimes or identified those arrested, local observers have speculated about potential involvement in cyber-related illegal activities. Officials stated that additional information will be released once the inquiry concludes.

The event has become a significant talking point in the Lekki area, resulting in a noticeable decrease in activity at the complex. Investigators are now analyzing the recovered materials to determine if there is enough evidence to move forward with criminal charges.
