Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has finalized the posting of Commissioners of Police to various state commands and key strategic units throughout Nigeria. This decision follows the official endorsement of his recommendations by the Police Service Commission.
According to Force Public Relations Officer CSP Aniete Iniedu, these movements are designed to bolster operational efficiency and improve leadership structures across the force. The initiative is a central part of the broader effort to reform and reposition the Nigeria Police Force.
The newly appointed Commissioners for state commands include Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo for Abia, Ayodeji Faniyan for Plateau, Saka Adewale Ajao for Bayelsa, Ajo Geofrey Ordue for Cross River, Nanna Oji Ama for Anambra, Patrick Daaor for Edo, Tani Murtala for Jigawa, and Samuel Erale for Delta.
Additional appointments affect critical departments. For instance, Yemi John Oyeniyi has been named CP of Intelligence and Training, while Charles Ezekwesiri Dike takes over the INTERPOL division at the FCID. Other leadership roles were filled at the Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Human Trafficking branches, and various administrative departments in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe.
In his directive, the Inspector-General tasked the newly assigned officers to utilize their extensive experience to improve intelligence-led policing and community engagement. He emphasized the importance of maintaining professional standards, accountability, and the effective protection of citizens’ lives and property across the nation.
