The Rivers State Police Command successfully captured five individuals suspected of kidnapping during a coordinated raid in the Oyigbo Local Government Area. Acting under orders from Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, officers from the Oyigbo Division executed the operation.
Command spokesperson ASP Blessing Agabe identified the detainees as Ezekiel Emmanuel, 44, Chukwuma Mbanefor, 51, Nicholas Diala, 65, Ndubuisi Uwakwe, 49, and Ifeanyi Nwankwo, 51. During interrogation, the group confessed to their involvement in various abductions across the Kom-Kom, Railway, Obeama, and Afam areas. Authorities are currently searching for other gang members still at large.
Commissioner Adepoju attributed the breakthrough to the intelligence-led policing strategies established by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu. He emphasized that the state police will continue to aggressively combat kidnapping, robbery, and cult-related activities. The Commissioner warned that criminals will find no refuge in the state and urged the public to stay alert and share reliable information with law enforcement to maintain community safety.
